Where are you exactly? It may also help us if you could provide more information about your bf's family( eg: Typical sounthener? Texas cowboy?...etc.).

I was invited to my bf's family for dinner every Sunday. His mom usually fixed steak, baked potato, and salad. I would like to cook something different for them.

His father doesn't like sweet food. Last time I fixed Thai green curry, Thai lemon fish, and shiao-shing chicken. Though he said these dishes were very tasty, he only ate a little bite. His mom likes what I cooked. I am from Tainan. Tainanese like to put sugar in food so I can hardly find any recipe without sugar. The second time I stewed beef and made some pot stickers, but I guess beef was too dry and the skin of pot sticker was too thick. Another frustrated experience.

They don't like pork. Not to mention animal organs. Seafood is not fresh here.
